Learning Landscape Painting from Richard Schmid

I have been spending quite a bit of time lately learning from the renowned landscape painter Richard Schmid. No, I have not personally studied with him, but I have read his two books and watched his four DVDs on landscape painting. I am drawn to his style and I am fascinated by his philosophy and approach to landscape painting. His books and DVDs are included in my online “library” and my comments can be viewed there. I have had an affinity for art my whole life. I grew up in Charleston, SC, where I received private art instruction as a youth. My family later moved to Paducah, Kentucky, where I won art awards in high school and sold pop poster art to other students. I graduated from University of Louisville law school in 1980 and practiced law in Louisville for 25 years. In November 2006, I left the practice of law to pursue a full time art career. I have never looked back!

I found your blog via googling Richard Schmid’s name. Your blog posts are very helped and your paintings are inspirational. I, too am a fan of Richard Schmid the artist, the instructor, and the person! Thank you for highlighting his many resources for artists.
